Am I the only one that is feeling threatened by new Alberta Premiere Ed Stelmachs decision to increase the royalties 20%? Not only does it affect the oil/gas companies but it affects every single person currently living in Alberta. I used to be a proud resident of this province. Their was always huge potential to make money, have nice things but work hard at doing it. Now with the royalty increase some oil/gas companies are packing up and moving on and some are cutting work back by 50% or more!! With all these cutbacks their are job cutbacks. With all the job cutbacks their is a decrease of money to spend which in turn will make for less money being made by everyone. New cars wont be bought, houses won't be bought, people will be going out for dinner less, buying less clothes, kids wont be in sports anymore....so on. And, if people aren't making the money their used to you will be sure to see foreclosures on houses and cars too. I am very scared to see what is going to come of Alberta and the rest of the country for that matter. Who does this increase really benefit....the citizens of Alberta/Canada or the politicians?
